Oh, “this is pretty new and different”, I think to myself while sitting two seats away from other Citadel Staff members while sporting a face mask that muffles my grimace. It is already an overwhelming odd school year being a Senior and returning Editor of The Citadel. Our newsroom reeks of chemical sanitizer, replacing the fragrance of freshly printed newspapers that now seem so forgotten. Our hands are spritzed with sanitizer at least five times a day, most student extracurriculars have been sacrificed in the name of new safety measures, and arguably worst of all (at least for me), the cancelation news of a monthly newspaper is still ringing in my ear.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 (which, trust me, I could do without saying anymore), and countless new “hands-off” measures in schools all across the state, holding, let alone, sharing a newspaper is one of the many aspects of student life that has fallen by the wayside. Our staff has spent the first month and a half of this foreboding school year learning the ins and outs of a new program called “SNO”, or Student News Online, a plan for online news which has become the only shred of hope for thriving Journalism anymore. Though initially bleak, our attitude remains strongly positive as The Citadel staff is determined to find any and all ways to paint student journalism across the halls of Charyl Stockwell, thus, welcome to the new online publication of Charyl Stockwell, The Citadel Post. 

Amidst a new online presence, The Citadel Post will be able to update the CSA Community with a more active news turnover rate. Sports scores, breaking news, student events, and even snow days will just be a click away for students, parents, teachers, and other members of our community.
