March Madness: The Elite 8
March 29, 2021
Wow, this tournament has flown by hasn’t it?
So many big moments, So many big games, and now there are only 8 teams left. Time to talk about each matchup and how they went.
First up #12 seed Orgon state vs Huston. Oregon State was trying to make history and be the first 12 seed to advance to the final 4 but they did fall short and could not finish their shots against Houston. The final score was 67-61 Houston won.
Next, Baylor vs Arkansas. Arkansas had just come off of a win against the Cinderella team #15 Oral Roberts while Baylor beat #5, Villanova. Arkansas just couldn’t get a hold of the game at any point and Baylor ran away with a good 81-73 win.
#1 Gonzaga vs #6 USC. To start, a Referee fainted at the beginning of the game and smacked the floor very hard. Although he seemed to be ok, he has carried off the court. USC kept it close for a little bit until Gonzaga closed the gap and went on a big scoring run to end the game, the final score, 85-66, Gonzaga won.
Finally, we come to what I believe to be the best game of the elite 8. #1 Michigan vs #11 UCLA, what a game that was. A real defensive game and not many points were scored. UCLA had the lead with a second to go and Michigan put up one final shot to try and win the game that fell short hitting the rim. UCLA moved on with a 51-49 Victory over Michigan. There you have it, the final 4 is set, #1 Gonzaga will face off against #11 UCLA and #1 Baylor will take on #2 Houston.
